Kent Wildlife Trust is Wild About Inclusion!
Everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy of wildlife in their daily lives. Kent Wildlife Trust will strive for equality, diversity and inclusion to ensure that this is the case.
In recognition of our intention to create spaces where everyone truly feels empowered to speak up and make change, we feel it’s important to include belonging in our work here. Belonging is the outcome of intentional acts of inclusion – the feeling of being part of something and mattering to others.
This means inspiring, empowering and engaging people from all backgrounds, cultures, identities and abilities, to change the natural world for the better. It means creating workspaces where difference is celebrated, and everyone can be themselves and flourish, just like nature.
We aim to better understand and address the inequalities experienced by many communities in accessing and connecting with nature. This includes recognising that the conservation sector is one of the least diverse professions in the UK and that access to careers and educational opportunities needs to be significantly improved.
We believe being Wild About Inclusion is critical to the future of Kent Wildlife Trust, the health and wellbeing of our communities and to wildlife.
More people will have access to, and will benefit from wildlife and the natural environment.
People from all parts of society will be supporting nature’s recovery.
We’ll attract and retain diverse talent, and our staff will be happier, healthier, more productive and more able to innovate.
Through our EDIB Working Group, Kent Wildlife Trust seeks to break down barriers to become a consciously inclusive, diverse and representative employer, business and advocate that enables and empowers both internal and external audiences to engage with both Kent Wildlife Trust and nature.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Pride Month and protecting our natural world.
Together, we can create a more inclusive, diverse, and accepting future.
