Daisy the rescued Long-Eared Bat was the star of the show at the Wild about Gardens 2017 School Awards Celebration at the beginning of this month.
For the first time, we decided to run a separate event for school entries with Shirley Thompson of Kent Bat Group providing an informative talk about Bats and how we can all make our gardens more bat-friendly. She was accompanied by Daisy the Long-Eared Bat. Daisy had previously been rescued by Kent Bat Group after being attacked by a cat and sadly is now unable to fly. She resides with a Bat Group member and both adults and children who attended the Celebration were delighted to see her.
Our thanks go to Debra Penfold and the staff at Herne Infant and Nursery School, winners of the 2016 School Award who hosted the event and even arranged perfect weather to enable guests to visit their wonderful garden.
Thanks also to our sponsors Optivo and Blenwood Grounds Maintenance.
