About the reserve

Oak appears mainly as standards, with hornbeam and sweet chestnut as the main coppice species. Alder and willow are also coppiced in the wetter areas. Recent coppicing has encouraged a diversity of flora and fauna. Characteristic species such as early-purple orchid are common. Dormice have been seen on the reserve and probably breed there.
